Bay Area Older Adults Trailblazers is an environmental education walking program that increases access to open spaces for our most vulnerable older adults: visually impaired and blind and widowed. Authority funds will help provide accessible and multisensory learning about nature, to increase environmental stewardship, encourage social engagement and physical activity to improve overall health.
Authority funds will help the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council solve a complex trail crossing in North Coyote Valley between the Santa Cruz Mountains and western foothills of the Diablo Range. The project will result in a traffic study, survey, and preliminary design. Addressing a critical link between park and open space lands, this project aligns with multiple regional partners and local agency priorities of recreation and land conservation.
The Authority contributed funds to help the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy (GRPC) protect and enhance an open space area in Guadalupe Gardens by defining its borders via split-rail fences, adding Guadalupe Gardens lettering to the fences along Hedding, Coleman, and Asbury streets to create a sense of place, and planting poppies along the fence to create an attractive border.
