Farm Program Vision

Guiding the Authority's Next Chapter for Agriculture

What is the Farm Program Vision?

The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is developing a Farm Program Vision to guide our work with local farmers and ranchers and strengthen long‑term agricultural viability in the Santa Clara Valley. Insights from the farming community will play a central role in determining our priorities, including what we work on, and what we don't. This Vision will guide our efforts over a five‑year period. At the end of that timeframe, staff will evaluate progress and refine the program using community input and data gathered throughout those years.

Why is it important?

  • It's part of our mission: The Open Space Authority has protected ~30,000 acres of natural and working lands and will continue prioritizing agricultural land conservation.
  • We invest in agriculture: For example, in 2025 the Authority secured $14.8 million to protect 412 acres of farmland in South Santa Clara County.
  • There's much more work to be done: Authority staff are exploring where our agency can help fill gaps, including technical assistance, market access and farm infrastructure.
