Native Plant Education & Incubation Project

Grassroots Ecology

About the Project

The Growing Resilience Project supports multiple organizations providing critical services to communities within the Open Space Authority's jurisdiction: Alviso in Action, Bill Wilson Center, LGBTQ Wellness, San José Conservation Corps+Charter School and Veggielution to augment the resilience of their organizations, sites and communities through native plants. Through the project, Grassroots Ecology provides each partnering organization's staff and/or participants with education, training and tailored guidance that empowers them to create and sustain climate-resilient landscapes while deepening their connections to nature from right where they are. Key activities include educational talks and workshops, consultation on how to add and maintain native plants to their site/facility, locally-tailored native plant resource materials, plant giveaways and take-home activities/supplies such as plant cuttings, seeds and pots.
