Malech Fire
On Saturday, August 8, the 32-acre Malech Fire broke out shortly before noon, prompting the closure of Máyyan 'Ooyákma - Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve.

Staff responded immediately, ensuring the preserve was evacuated and closed to the public.
Thanks to rapid response from the CalFire Santa Clara Unit and San Jose Fire Department, the fire was contained quickly. As a result, no one was hurt and no structures were damaged.
