Interested in birding? In partnership with the Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance, this walk up the Bay Checkerspot Trail will offer participants the opportunity to spot birds spending the winter at Máyyan 'Ooyákma - Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve.
Join our introductory training for new volunteers! Our Winter 2026 edition of Interpretive Host Training features two parts. The January 10 session will cover agency mission and vision, roles and duties and using interpretive techniques for public facing volunteer roles. The February 22 session will focus on Máyyan 'Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve, a springtime wildflower destination!
Don't miss this unique birding experience! The Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance will be leading an enchanting hike at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve and helping attendees spot and identify native birds. All birder levels are welcome!

Then this event is especially for you! Come to Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve where we will set up a planning station where you can meet Open Space Authority staff and learn about plans for restoration, public access and agriculture in Coyote Valley.
Come enjoy open access at the North Coyote Valley Hill! This beginner-friendly hike is approximately one mile round-trip and includes just 100 feet in elevation gain, over a gradual incline.
