Join the Open Space Authority and the San Jose Astronomical Association (SJAA) for a star party at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve! Docent astronomers will set up their telescopes to help you get the most knowledge and enjoyment out of the dark starry night sky.

Do you have a pair of binoculars? Want to bask in the beauty of the night sky? Join the Open Space Authority and the San Jose Astronomical Association for a family-friendly evening under the stars at the Tilton Ranch Complex.

As spring turns to summer, the soaproot plant prepares to bloom when evening comes. Join Open Space Authority docents on a 4-mile late afternoon hike along the Mayfair Ranch and Longwall Canyon Trails to witness these flowers coming to life!

Take a leisurely 2.5-mile hike along the Bay Checkerspot Trail with Open Space Authority staff and docents to celebrate the end of the work week, enjoy the colors of the sunset and take photos of the beautiful Coyote Valley landscape.

Enjoy a 3-mile walk through unique serpentine grassland as bird experts from the Open Space Authority and Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance help you identify native birds.

The Open Space Authority is proud to join Santa Clara County Park's Native Plant and Pollinator Day 2026! Every June, we celebrate National Pollinator Week at Martial Cottle Park with our Native Plant and Pollinator Day event. Learn about the importance of pollinators and how native plants help them. The event includes native plant and pollinator related crafts, tours, presentations, and resources.
