Looking at Rancho: biodiversity study in action
This spring students in Mike Kutilek’s biodiversity class at San Jose State University are surveying Rancho Cañada del Oro.
Whether the subject is trees and shrubs, insects, fish, birds, or mammals, the class will identify and record the variety of species that live on the preserve.

Trail cams: Open Space Authority reality TV
The images aren’t fancy, but they capture trail use as it happens. And several times a month what triggers the Authority’s trail cameras is wildlife.
